oil, latex and spray paint on panel
A reflection on roadwork and construction as a metaphor for the alchemical process; the transformation of lead into gold and the sometimes messy and rock process of transformation. Spray paint marks the spot where something needs to be fixed or excavated, a traumatic memory or a dark shadow which could lead to magic powers, intuitive and creative depths or a maybe whole new roadmap. One of the last remaining pieces from my solo show "Metaphysical Cartography" at Walnut Contemporary in 2012. Highway Dreams was also exhibited at the Department of Canadian Heritage in 2018.
